The camping site
1998: Building the camp

In February 1998, Erongo Plateau Camp was build. Oliver and Conny Kayser, owner of the camping site, build the camping site on Conny's parents farm, Frederik and Rita van Alphen (Farm Eileen). With their experience in camping Conny & Oliver constructed the camping site environmentally friendly that blends into the natural surroundings.

The camping ground is small and secluded, the perfect place to relax and de-stress. Visits should sooth the soul and relax the mind. Great care has been taken to ensure that our sites provide for privacy. Stunning view from camp

Israel Mbudu is managing and maintaining the camping site. His good service, neatness and friendly appearance give him a good reputation.

Erongo Plateau Camp is situated in the heart of the majestic Erongo mountain range near Omaruru. This is the gate to Damaraland where you find the famous desert elephants or ancient Himba tribe in Kaokoveld. It is also within comfortable traveling distance to Swakopmund, Hentiesbay, Twyfelfontein, Etosha or even the capital city Windhoek.

How to find us with description. Ablution facilities

The camping site has spotlessly clean showers (hot & cold) and toilets. You can buy wood at the camp. There are fireplaces, shade netting and every site has its own water tap. We have no power supply, no swimming pool and no shop. You should therefore bring your own camping equipment and food. Eileen guest farm, 5km from the campsite, does not cater for campers. In Omaruru, 35km from the campsite, you can get your fresh groceries at the Omaruru Spar.

Kudu For the more adventurous, there are hiking trails situated in the mountains. Game on the farm is naturally there. This area is best known for its mountain zebra. You can also see Oryx, Kudu, Steenbok, Damara Dik-dik, etc. Listen to the sounds of hyena, jackal, leopard or even owls at night. Leopard

Nearby attractions: You can visit the bushman paintings on a neighbour farm Ekuta of Mr Karl Hinterholzer. It is very important to book in advance because the paintings are not open to the public. Mr Hinterholzer himself takes people to the paintings to ensure that it will not be destroyed.

Stellplatz Booking: Prior booking is advisable because only four camping sites are available.

Wanderweg You do not need to register at Eileen guest farm, which is a further 5km from the camping site. You just go directly to the camp. Israel, our camp manager will be there to assist you. A booked site will get a "reserved sign" at the entrance with the clients name on. If you have not booked and there are sites available (without a reserved sign), you can directly look for a nice place to put up camp. Israel will come around eventually. On weekends and after hours Israel will come to the camping site only later the afternoon.

Make sure to book in advance if you do not want to get disappointed and do not want to travel to the next campground, which is a further 35km away.
